This isn’t a standard 9-5 role, you may be required to work evenings and weekends at times. The ideal candidate for a PAT Engineer at phs will have:

Full UK manual Driving License for a minimum of 12 months (Subject to insurance requirements), with a maximum of 6 points.

The ability to spend long periods of time completing manual work.
A desire to pursue a career within an electrical engineering role.

About the role

We are currently recruiting for a full time permanent Electrical Appliance Tester to be based in Wednesbury, West Midlands.

You will be a member of the GreenSquareAccord Trade Team working across the directorate ensuring mechanical tools are inspected and safe to use.

The role is also required to carry out annual inspections of portable electrical equipment within other departments (i.e. Care and Support, Supported Housing, Property Services) in accordance with current working practices and all related health and safety legislation and good practice.

This role will require working in shelter accommodation and care schemes, in commercial offices working with vulnerable customers.

Please note that if you are successful in this role, we will require a DBS check to be completed. Further details will be sent following offer.

About you

It would be beneficial for this role is you currently hold a PAT testing qualification.

It is essential that you have the ability to undertake a range of portable appliance testing at various locations whilst also reporting and making safe any electrical appliance failures.

You must be able to able to set out jobs from drawings and specifications, and requisition the necessary materials.

You will need to be confident in effectively use hand-held electronic devices and have a general understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook..

It is also essential that you have respect for, and the ability to communicate with tenants and maintain good relations.

The North West Air Ambulance Charity’s helicopters and rapid response vehicles operate 365 days a year, with highly skilled specialist doctors and paramedics on board. They provide pre-hospital care and hospital transfers to patients across the entire North West region. The North West Air Ambulance would not be here without the support of its community volunteers, supporters and partners. The charity is completely reliant on donations and we need over £9.5 million to keep the North West Air Ambulance Charity service operational.

NWAA are looking for a volunteer part time Portable Appliance Tester to test electrical appliances for safety through a series of visual inspections and electronic tests to be able to sell our electrical products to raise funds for the charity.

This is a volunteer role only and we ask for a commitment of at least 4 hours twice a month to fit in with your schedule. Travel will be reimbursed for reasonable travel (home to shop)

The role of the PAT Tester volunteer includes:

· Inspection of all electrical items that have been donated to the charity shop, review all cables for damage, cleanliness and general condition – is it genuinely fit for resale?

· Check electrical items for a rating plate

· Plug wiring, fused and pins insulation

· Replacing plugs if required

· PAT testing according to Class 1 or Class 2 rating.

· Recording all PAT Tested items in line with NWAA procedure with description, model number, serial number and insulation class.

We don’t require our PAT engineers to be experienced, we will supply all the training you need. We will provide you with a company vehicle which can be used for personal use and all the equipment that you need

This isn’t a standard 9-5 role. You may be required to work evenings and weekends at times.
