About You
Volunteer PAT testers play a critical role in our stores that sell electrical goods. They are responsible for testing the appliances to ensure their safety prior to them being put on sale. They may also test some of the other equipment used for running the shop.

What you will need
No previous experience is required to be a Volunteer PAT Tester. You will need to be reliable with an enthusiastic approach to working in our store.

Job Overview

We have an exciting new Reuse project which started in May 2021 based at our Hawick premises and we are now recruiting for one post. The post will operate until 30th April 2022, but will continue subject to funding.

Some previous electrical knowledge is desired although full training to a Portable Appliance Testers (PAT) qualification can be provided. As well as general warehouse work, this role involves testing a wide range of donated electrical items and white goods.

Responsibilities and Duties
· To assist with the installation and preparation of a PAT testing facility at the new Home Basics warehouse in Croft Road, Hawick.
· To provide a professional and organised electrical testing service for Home Basics, ensuring that all electrical items offered for reuse are safe and fully-functioning.
· To assist with the safe organisation and storage of all incoming and outgoing electrical items.
· To maintain and produce accurate records and reports to the Shop Manager as required.
· To provide training and support to any volunteer PAT testers.
· To maintain up-to-date knowledge of electrical, waste and reuse regulations provided by SEPA, Government, Trading Standards, project stakeholders, etc.
· To ensure adherence to all health & safety requirements and guidelines.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, focused PAT Tester to work in and around the Ilford/Dagenham and surrounding areas of London for our expanding national electrical safety organisation.

Qualifications are an advantage with City and Guilds 2377 our benchmark qualification that must be achieved during the probationary period if not already gained at your own expense.

Hours are flexible between 7.00am and 6.00pm Monday to Friday depending on the clients’ needs with a uncapped bonus leading to OTE of £32,000 per annum to the willing and hardworking candidate.

All equipment to complete the role is provided; your role is to test to the company’s high standards while maintaining good relations with the customer to guarantee annual renewal.

You must have a full UK driving license with 6 points or less and no DR10 conviction in the last 5 years; be able to pass a Standard DBS check; provide two references one of which should be from your last employer.

In this role, you will be to travelling to Medical Centres across the UK to deliver medical calibration testing and PAT testing in order to meet your client's requirements. Calibration testing is checking medical equipment using specialist testing tools (provided). You will be given full training.

The successful candidate must have at least 2 years of experience in PAT testing.
