Our network of 450 retail stores represents the charity in many communities and on numerous high-streets and retail parks across the UK. Our shop teams are the friendly faces of our stores. They are made up of staff and volunteers who undertake equally important roles.

We are looking for PAT Testers to support the friendly team at our Yardley Wood shop. Located in Yardley Wood, on the outskirts of Birmingham our Sue Ryder shop boasts a range of high quality, branded fashion.
What you will do
Volunteer PAT testers play a critical role in our stores that sell electrical goods. They are responsible for testing the appliances to ensure their safety prior to them being put on sale. They may also test some of the other equipment used for running the shop.

What you will need
No previous experience is required to be a Volunteer PAT Tester. You will need to be reliable with an enthusiastic approach to working in our store.

We at CTS Tech Services have an exciting opportunity within our Portable Appliance Testing division for a full time PAT engineer. The role requires you to undertake electrical safety inspections to portable and similar equipment at clients’ premises locally to your region and occasionally throughout Northern Ireland.

As a Portable Appliance Engineer for CTS you will be visiting multiple commercial properties, for example schools, universities, retail outlets, leisure centres, hospitals and pubs to complete portable appliance testing and ensure compliance for our clients. Due to this broad spectrum of work and the nature of our work the position requires travel on a daily basis.

Training, equipment, uniform, PPE & vehicle will be provided. Following your training, you will carry out safety inspections and electrical tests to the equipment recording the data within a handheld computer and further advising the client of your findings. The role is customer facing so good communication skills will be required.

Role requirements:

Full and valid Driving Licence
Previous PAT testing experience (C&G 2377 would be an advantage)
Be happy to work on a mobile basis
Be professional, organised and polite at all times when representing the company
Must have an understanding of H&S in the workplace
Meet the requirements of an enhanced criminal records disclosure
Self-motivated
Possess excellent communication skills
Able to meet the physical requirements of the role
Exceptional attention to detail

Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will need to meet the requirements of an enhanced DBS check.
