You'll provide Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) on electrical equipment used within Sovereign to include:

To support your local shop in Bilborough to test donated electrical items and get them ready for sale. This raises vital income and supports our “Green Agenda”

2. Role Overview

Are you a methodical person who would get a buzz from saving electrical items from going to landfill?

The public kindly donate small electrical items to our shops, which we are unable to sell unless they have passed a PAT test. As a volunteer PAT tester in our small friendly shop team you'll help to complete visual inspections and function tests, using a PAT testing machine in store.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, focussed PAT Tester to work in and around the Exeter area for our expanding national electrical safety organisation.

Qualifications are an advantage with City and Guilds 2377 our benchmark qualification that must be achieved during the probationary period if not already gained at your own expense.

Hours are flexible between 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday depending on the clients’ needs with a fixed basic wage plus an uncapped bonus leading to OTE of £28,000 per annum to the willing and hard working candidate.

All equipment to complete the role is provided; your role is to test to the company’s high standards while maintaining good relations with the customer to guarantee annual renewal.

You must have a full UK driving license with 6 points or less and no DR10 conviction in the last 5 years; be able to pass a Standard DBS check; provide two references one of which should be from your last employer.

Job Description:

Follow a testing process and complete all stages competently and clearly using operative/ PDA system.
Carry out portable appliance testing (PAT)
You will be provided with a vehicle and the necessary tools to execute the testing.

Qualifications/Skills and Experience required:

Experience of PAT testing within the commercial environment is essential.
Testing and inspection using a fully downloadable Portable Appliance Testing instrument.
City & Guilds 2377 22/23 for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.
Knowledge of Health and Safety matters including filling out risk assessments.
DBS Approved
Full clean driving license is essential for this role.
ECS/CSCS card preferred

Working hours and Environment

Monday to Thursday : 8am - 4:30pm, Friday 8am - 2:30pm.
