To carry out portable appliance testing at our portfolio of clients as mentioned above including smaller commercial and private residential clients - all to a high standard. You will work remotely coming to the Head Office for company training/meetings and restocking where needed. As such you will be responsible for yourself day to day. Work is booked in by our office staff and this is put into schedules which you have access to. You will deal with clients at their site and will understand that communication is vital.

Responsibilities and Duties

Drive to and from customers premises using company vehicle. (driving license required)
Carry out portable appliance testing at various pre-booked sites.
Communicate any problems/issues that arise with both the office and the client in a professional way.
Send job reports through on a daily basis.
Keep on top of your administration - reports/job cards.

As a Portable Appliance Engineer for CTS you will be visiting multiple commercial properties, for example schools, universities, retail outlets, leisure centres, hospitals and pubs to complete portable appliance testing and ensure compliance for our clients. Due to this broad spectrum of work and the nature of our work the position requires travel on a daily basis.

Training, equipment, uniform, PPE & vehicle will be provided. Following your training, you will carry out safety inspections and electrical tests to the equipment recording the data within a handheld computer and further advising the client of your findings. The role is customer facing so good communication skills will be required.

Established in 1981, Age Concern Central Lancashire provides a wide range of services primarily aimed at older people and their carers within the boundaries of Lancashire. The charity is well known for providing dementia care and support within the county in addition to a wide variety of services aimed at helping people to live well and age well.

Reporting to the Retail Cluster Manager, you will act as a font-line ambassador for the charity, you will have previous experience of driving, engaging with people, whilst possessing effective planning and organising skills. This role will also support the retail operations by carrying out Portable Appliance Testing on Electrical Items across our shops. Full training will be provided for this function.

This role will operate across Lancashire.

Duties and Responsibilities

Support the retail operation in the movement and acquisition of stock through:

Distribution of stock between our shops, as required
Collection of donated items from the homes or businesses of our supporters and donors
Collection or delivery of larger stock items to and from our customers
Assistance with the opening and closure of new or vacated shops as required

After training - Provide Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) for small electrical items prior to sale ensuring relevant records are recorded, maintained and filed as outlined in the Portable Appliance Testing guidelines.

Help to maximise income raised from donated goods by:

Encouraging sign-up to Gift Aid on all donated items
Taking full responsibility for the protection of all breakable items during transit ensuring adequate care is taken to protect stock from damage.
At all times deliver excellent levels of customer service

Be aware of donated goods that we are unable to accept due to noncompliance of safety standards or goods of poor unsellable condition and an understanding of regulations supporting the sale of used goods
